Hi, what is the normal bed time routine including bed time hour for your 7yr olds? I feel like he should be putting himself to sleep but still requires my husband to lay with him for AN HOUR. HELP!

My 8 year old DS and 3 year old DD have had the same bedtime routine for 2 years now, they go to bed at the same time.

7.30pm both go upstairs with a parent (unless we do a bath in which case bath at 7pm). Teeth brushed and face/hands washed.

Parent gets younger one in nightwear and into sleeping bag, older one gets in nightwear himself. Both into youngest bedroom for a story. Story read while sitting on the bed together.

One by one give everyone a kiss and say Nan night. Eldest one goes into his room, shuts curtains, out a lamp on, gets in bed. Youngest one out in cot by parent, light off door closed. Parent into eldest ones room, kids and big cuddle, say nan night, leave. So.etimes door left open, sometimes not. Always has a lamp left on.

All this is usually finished by about 7.45-7.50pm and they are usually both asleep by 8pm.
