Cosleeping to Cot at 1 year old

My first post, so will try and get everything in I need. Not familiar with all the acronyms so bear with me.

Our little boy is 1 year old and has co-slept since birth. Initially in a side sleeper and then in our super king bed.

At about 6 months we put him into his own room in his own cot and this was a relatively easy transition. He would wake up 2-5 times a night but would go back down easily. Occasionally he would sleep through.

When he was 9 months he was a little ill and then at 10 months he got bad croup. As a result he ended up sleeping in our bed and now we are really struggling to get him back into his cot.

He's on whole milk before bed (but not to make him sleep?) But to keep him full.

He is a massive fidget, whilst awake and asleep. To the point where he kneels up, sits up, climbs, crawls and rolls most of the night. I keep getting woke up by sleeping headbutts.

He will go to sleep quite easily In our bed at about 7.30 and we'll put him to bed. He then wakes up in the middle of the night every night and we cannot get him back to sleep in his bed (tried numerous times for well over an hour). He just gets more upset and wants out.

If we try and put him to sleep in his own bed he will cry and constantly try and get up and get out. No matter how long wee spend with him it just doesn't work.

So... help!!! Confused

You could try a floor bed in his room instead of a cot. I think cosleeping babies tend to get used to a bed rather than cot. You'd obviously have to make the room safe etc but it might work for you x

How aboit bringing the cot into your bedroom? Get him used to sleeping in the cot while it is next to your bed?

Floor bed might work but with the way he fidgets would he not be constantly falling out of it and waking up? Think I may try it either way though

There's not enough room in our bedroom for the cot too unfortunately otherwise it would definitely have been something I'd try.
