Stopping naps

How do you know when it is time to stop letting a toddler nap in the day? Or is it just something they will stop naturally?

It's usually when not tired at bedtime if having a nap, happy and not grumpy in the afternoon when not having a nap.

There's usually a transition period. It was a good 6-12 months transition to go from occassional days without a nap until the time came that no nap was needed at all.

We did odd days of no naps within the rest of the week with a nap initially. Then no nap days became more frequent.

In days when we had no naps, I established "rest time" with a duvet on the sofa at the time when the nap would have been. We kept rest time for ages after the nap started being dropped.
