Waking up 3 week old for feed

Do I? She was unusually awake for 2 hours today. I changed her nappy an hour or two ago, bf her for less than 5 mins and she was asleep again, even whilst I winded her but it's been 5 hours since her last full feed.

Has she regained birth weight?

Meowstro · 26/08/2017 21:12

Yes, she has.

If she's regained her birth weight, isn't of a low birth weight and is gaining well, then baby will wake when she wants a feed. You don't need to wake her.

Don't wake a sleeping baby for food unless they're under the weather or very low weight

BertrandRussell · 26/08/2017 21:42

I wouldn't wake her as a one off unless there are concerns about her weight gain, or she is jaundiced.

Trouble is, you can't relax because you're on edge waiting for her to wake up!

Meowstro · 27/08/2017 16:45

The reason I ask is she's been the same since jaundice set in a couple of days after she was born. I usually have to wake her up for dirty or wet nappies or a feed, she just won't wake up for anything unless it's pain from colic. The jaundice looks to be gone now and has for almost a week.
