2 year old dropping nap...

My 2 year old is pretty consistently refusing to nap. He is 2 and 4 months, we've had some success getting him down but at least 5 days of the week he wont sleep. Shall we keep going? Put him to sleep earlier? My main worry is that he does seem tired but he will be in his room singing for 2 hours at least. I've tried day after day to really tire him out, 40 minutes of reading, and been doing an exact routine.

My main worry is that developmentally doesnt he need the nap?

No advice but watching with interest as one of my 2 year olds is refusing to nap pretty frequently lately.

Oh I'd ditch it. My just 2yo would nap but then party I. His cot til 9pm and up at 6.30 🙄 I have called time. Just enjoy being about to go out for lunch and wandering home after via the park. You may need to do quiet book time or TV if you are a slattern like me for an hour in the afternoon but it should be manageable. I don't sweat about a 20-30 min power nap the odd day - sometimes they need it.

Just an update and might be of use to you Madame, went for a half an hour walk before nap time and he is still sleeping 2 hours later! Yay!

We dropped the lunchtime nap about 8/9 weeks ago when D1 was 2.5 and it was the best and the worst thing! Best thing as now DS1 doesn't lie in his bed chatting and singing until 9pm every night and then get up at 6.30am. Worst thing because he's a tired ball of emotion from about 5.30pm until bedtime if he wakes up any earlier than 6.30am (DS2 is a prime factor in this. He naps up to 3 hours a day).

So, swings and roundabouts basically but we're riding it out!!
