Odd sleep pattern

Just a quick question.
DD is 6 weeks old and today has had a very sleepy day. She has slept from 11am until 4pm only waking for feeds. She has even slept in the bouncy chair on her own and nodded off to sleep all on her own(this never happens) I topped and tailed her and dressed her and she was even sleepy through all this.
Im assuming that this is ok, she doesnt seem ill or anything. Can anyone tell me if this can happen quite often and does it mean anything ie growth spurt or just a need for more sleep.
Thanks

kbaby, I remember dd having very sleepy days sometimes at this age and up to around 3-4 months too. I'd always get worried, especially if she seemed a bit floppy and lethargic when awake. She was always ok. If your dd is eating well and has good wet nappies she's probably ok too. I have found that as dd's got older that a very sleepy day is now a sign that she's coming down with something like a cold or other viral thing. But she's much older now, 21 months, and at your dd's age did regularly have sleepy days without it being anything to worry about.
