Family bed

Has anyone got a family bed? We are a family of four and have, til now, slept in various configurations in a variety of beds. However, we're now in a position to move all into the same bed but our super-king isn't big enough! I'm looking for recommendations of what others have done that has worked, and anything that didn't work.

I know someone who has bought 2 double beds and the shop arranged for them to zip together.

The room isn't huge (around 4m*3.6m) so we're a little constrained. But 2 doubles would fit. Or we could get a single to attach to our super-king, though I worry about them sliding apart.

All ideas appreciated 😊

You can get little metal plates to join divans together from Amazon.
They're about £4 for a pair of them.

What about a double and a single? Or add a cotbed next to the super king dependant on ages? X

There is no way I'd comfortably fit more than a newborn in our super king bed.

But I can't bear to sleep with the kids!

We have a super king l. It's fine for dh, 1yo ds2 and I. We do sometimes have our four year old climb in too. It's a bit off a squash then and usually ends up with dh sleeping in the spare room instead.

If I regularly had more than 1 dc in bed wit 2 adults I'd want 2 doubles together. Not sure what you'd do about sheets then though.

I'm so jealous (genuinely, not goady) of people who enjoy co-sleeping. I can hardly bear to be in the same bed as my DP let alone my wriggly octopus radiator DS!

Watching with interest......

How old are your kids? I think that governs how much money you want to spend, because they'll be taking the lead about where they sleep as they get older. One of my kids slept with us until 10 in a super king. Others preferred own beds from a much earlier age - way before school.

I would have thought attaching a single to a KS/SKS would be most flexible, as you can then move it when the older child wants a bit more space, and not need to buy another bed.
