6 month old bed time?

My parents have just made me feel like a bad mother as we put our 6 MO to bed around 11pm, and he wakes at 9.30am which works for us and is just a habit we have got into since he was newborn. Mum says that it's chavvy and lazy of me to put him to bed later so he doesn't wake up early. But now I don't think he would go down at say 7pm? And DH doesn't get back from work until 7pm so he would hardly see him. I feel useless. Help?

If you have no reason to get up early with baby, there's no necessity.

Often families have other children to get ready for school, or they have to get baby to nursery and get to work themself. These are your typical reasons for needing an earlier morning with baby.

If 11pm - 9.30pm works for you, there's no need to change it. Although I would aim for 11-12h overnight sleep. So if you want baby waking at 9.30am, a bedtime between 9.30-10.30 would be better for the baby. Or alternatively keep the 11pm bedtime but allow baby to sleep until 10-11am.

Chavvy?! What a weird and snobbish thing to say about a baby's bedtime!

My expert advice is to tell your mum to piss off keep her opinions to herself Wink
