My 3 year old ds does sometimes. Inlaws let him watch a bit of the dinosaur programme that was on Sat evenings with Hannah Spearitt and I think that didn't help
He usually just calls out for his dad and need tucking back in. Often he still seems half asleep.

Mine screrams aloud and her eyes wide open ,but shes asleep ! we went to see a sleep doc ,who told us what it was all to do with over active mind , so now bed time is quite strict , bath stories no tv, seems to be working she doesnt have them as often . at such a young age you just dont know what they take in on tv or how they process it .

just read other thread, and is just what my dd has ,comfort to know it has a name , thought she was having a fit or something .

That's what I thought, nogin, when dd2 had her first one. Now I know what is happening, it is much easier to deal with: ie: I'm not yelling at dp "get an ambulance! Don't just stand there you stupid bastard ring 999" like I did first time

If it is any consolation, she doesn't appear to have any after-effects during the day and if anything, can't remember the night time incidents at all.

She has night terrors, and nightmares but is a perfectly happy, confident child during the day.

nogin · 25/03/2007 17:06

yes i know what you mean , im alot calmer bout them now . the sleep doc said not to wake her when she has them just sit beside her and slowly talk her back to sleep, as before i went rushing in calling her name, lights on trying to get her to notice me , little did i realise she was asleep with her eyes open ! looking possesed !

I did the same as you, I thought it was a convulsion and was on the phone to the doctor!

I'm glad that it is something iyswim

OP posts:
nogin · 25/03/2007 17:25

what with my dd terrors we also have a ds who never sleeps in his own bed, so some nights were all on the move.

OP posts:
CadburyCremeSquonk · 25/03/2007 17:38

We were like that for a while, but nowadays we have dd1 and ds sharing a room, and dd2 sleeps with us. She is restless all night so if we are there, we can calm her straight away without her waking the whole household.

talcyone · 25/03/2007 17:47

Both my dds have night terrors
Walking about
talking screaming pointing
very odd behaviour
So does dh.
fun and games at our house
Dh tried to move me around the bed by my throat the other night
Kept saying he wanted me the other way round!?!!

CadburyCremeSquonk · 25/03/2007 17:48

dp sleepwalks.

Are they connected? Sounds stupid but I never thought about it before.

talcyone · 25/03/2007 17:54

could be

I openly blame dh for dd's nightly wanderings

CadburyCremeSquonk · 25/03/2007 17:55

will blame him tonight when she has one, then I can go back to sleep

talcyone · 25/03/2007 17:56

lol
