babysitting my niece last night she was in the travel cot in my room and my ds was in his room. He was as good as gold and went to sleep perfectly but was woken up by a wingy moany baby.

My niece from 11.30pm woke every half hour and it has driven me insane!! i was crying all afternoon dreading it cos i knew she would be like this as she always is. Dont think i can do it anymore i hate it too much

just felt like ranting

You have my sympathies

Have a shower it might make you feel you can cope a bit longer. We've all been there, you must be a saint to offer to look after someone else's baby as well as your own. I thought it was only mummy love which stopped us throwing them out the window!!!

juicychops · 25/03/2007 07:35

Not even got a shower

i only do it so that my sister has my ds every other week too so that i get a night off every other week as there is no one else that ever has him to give me a break.

my ds can be a handful at times but he sleeps through perfectly so my sister doesn't really have any problems with him

sometimes i dont think its worth the night off!

can't you give each other a break in the day instead. that way you don't get the sleepless night and she can catch up in the day when you have her dd. . sounds like the neice has sleep issues. how old is she?

deaconblue · 25/03/2007 21:26

I would much prefer an evening out but to have my own baby back through the night. Do you have to have her all night? Maybe she doesn't sleep because she's in a strange place, poor love?

juicychops · 26/03/2007 13:08

She doessn't really sleep much better in her own cot. I stayed at hers one night. She is 9 months.

She likes her nights out so i cant see her choosing the day times instead of the nighs. Plus she is out until about 4am each time so she cant even come home and take over for me

she's not being fair. how old is your sister?

cruisemum1 · 26/03/2007 17:48

when you are a mum you have to suffer the consequences if you choose to go out till 4am! you must be a lovely sister

Amberjee · 26/03/2007 20:41

goodness, 4am! i try to be in bed by 8pm! i've failed miserably tonight (just having dinner).

deaconblue · 26/03/2007 20:54

I can't understand why anyone with a baby would want to go to bed at 4am. Do you end up looking after her child all day the next day too, or does she look after her after a few hours sleep? Bizarre. I would knock that on the head swiftish if I were you

Ceebee74 · 26/03/2007 20:56

How does your sister cope with the constant lack of sleep - if her lo wakes constantly all night on other nights, and then she stays out until 4am when you are babysitting - does she not need sleep???

juicychops · 27/03/2007 07:48

She doesn't seem to wake as much when my sister is with her. I must be doing something wrong! (unless my sister is fibbing!)
