baby only napping throughtout the day on me

My little one only seems to sleep on me during the day if I put him down he wakes up but goes straight back off when I hold him anyone else experienced this?

How old is your son OP? If he is a newborn it's part of the 'fourth trimester' they still want to be close as it's not long since they could constantly hear your heartbeat etc.

If he's older has he had a cold or is he teething? My dd is 9 months and when her teeth are bothering her she is much more clingy and will want to be cuddled while she sleeps.

This is a problem most parents face, it is quite universal.

When younger (under 3 months), because feeding and sleeping are so intrinsically linked it is difficult for baby to not fall asleep on you. A swaddle can help, it reduces sensations so that putting baby down is easier. Once down, a newborn who's swaddled may still squirm but if you keep your hand on their chest and give a dummy to comfort suck, it's usually possible to resettle a drowsy newborn. It does take practice and the use of props though.

When older, the trick is to never move a sleeping baby. So get baby to go to sleep where they will stay asleep. This means not feeding to sleep (otherwise it becomes increasingly difficult to put baby down to sleep) and getting baby to go to sleep where they will stay asleep. Again this often involved the use of props - movement is a good one. So get baby to go to sleep in a bouncy chair or pushchair, for example.

If you're keen not to use any independant help to get baby to sleep, then the easiest no crying way to do this would be to feed to sleep lying down and keep baby lying there once they fall asleep. In the daytime you could do this just lying on the floor in the living room. Roll away once baby is asleep and leave baby there, covering with a blanket if needed.

I found mine grew out of it, like fate says it's developmental.

I found I was able to move mine though once they got past a certain age, so I could feed to sleep on me, then put down.

When they were little though, they had most naps on me, didn't create any bad habits and they were good sleepers and nappers.

hes 5 and half months old, hes been like this since birth I thought he may of grown out of it by now. At night hes good he will have a bottle then go to sleep and doesn't mind me putting him down, hes not a dummy baby which in a way I wish he was so I could try using the dummy to soothe him. he got his first tooth at 3 months old and now getting his 3rd and 4th together at the top coming through so hes very clingy at the moment. I love it sometimes but when you have things to do I just wish he would let me put him down during the day so I can do them as hes clingy with his teething I don't get much done as it is

I would try moving his feeds to when he wakes, rather than as he goes to sleep. Then find a way to get baby to sleep that doesn't involve feeding.

during the day I rock him to sleep then wakes up and has a feed a little after but at night he has a bath and then a little while later has a bottle then straight to sleep and lets me put him to bed but during the day I have no chance. Do you put your baby in their cot for their day naps?
its only when I'm home otherwise when I'm out and hes in the pram he always naps and even sleeps longer than when we are at home I just feel like I'm doing something wrong as other people have their babies napping during the day in their cot and they have no problems :/

Have you tried replicating the bedtime routine but during the day? Not the bath of course, but stories and bottle and into cot?
