When did you move DC from cot to bed?

DD has never been a great sleeper but at the moment wakes up around 4am and will go back to sleep on the floor with me, in bed with me or occasionally with me sleeping on the floor next to the cot 🙄
I just wondered if taking the side off her cot to turn it into a bed might help or giving her a duvet & pillow instead of sleeping bag might help, especially as she seems to get tangled in her sleeping bag.
Any suggestions or words of wisdom are welcome Grin

I usually took the side off when they started climbing out. You know when it's time.

How old is she? If she's old enough and is mobile I would probably start with the pillow and duvet.

Both of them at 18 months.
Cot and Grobag to bed, duvet and stair gate on the door all at once.
No problems.

Mine were both around 18months, it was way too early but they were climbing out of their cots. It didn't help them sleep and led to quite a few sleepless nights while they got the hang of staying in bed.

At 18 months when I found DD had built a ramp of soft toys inside her cot so she could climb up and launch herself over the side pretty much headfirst onto the floor.

We bought them low toddler beds so didn't have to worry about them rolling out onto the floor.

DS is still in his cot (he's 2 years 4 months). But he's never tried to crawl out! If anything he shouts out that his bed is broken if we forget to close the side! We plan to move him out at some point in the summer.

She's 21 months, not tried climbing out yet but to be fair there's nothing really to use to help her do it.

20months. Much better sleep for it. Gate on door though.

I'm wondering about this as ds 1 has started waking in the night, upset. He crashes into the side of the cot and moves around a lot, I worry he'll fall out without a side on. It's a cotbed so can take the side off.
