My DS is 6 months old next week. He slept from 7-6am from birth till around 16 weeks. He then had injections, a cold, Antibiotics, conjunctivitis, cut 2 teeth and learnt to sit up, all in about 2 weeks of each other. So I understand all these things put him out of sync but we are 10 or so weeks down the line and the sleep is getting worse and I worry I'm not helping him.
This is his day (roughly) and has been like this for about a week
4:30/5:30 wake for the day
6/6:30 back to bed for 1-2 1/2 hours
8/8:30 5-6oz bottle & now porridge
10/10:30 nap for 30mins
10:30/11- 12/12:30 play time and then 6oz and some lunch
Then every 1.5 - 2 hours he will have a Half an hour nap with play in between with the last half hour nap at around 5. And a bottle around 3/3:30.
He will have some dinner at 6, bath at 6:30 and then 8oz bottle and bed. He has never gone to bed 'nicely.' We get him out the bath and he cries constantly until he has fed to sleep. I've never had any luck with him falling to sleep himself.
I have no problem during the day with him eating enough or napping enough it's the nights. He will wake at 11:30, 2:00, 3:30, 4:30 and some times in between, then up for the day at around 5. I'm feeding him 6-7oz when he wakes first then about 3:30 as I can usually get him back to sleep in between but it takes a while. He used to have his long nap in the early afternoon but has recently started having it in the morning. Should I not let him do this?
I feel as if I'm doing something wrong. I'm beyond tired and am averaging around 3 hours sleep a night.
I'm sorry this is so long but I really feel like I'm failing with the night time sleep and don't know how much longer I can do it. I hate my son crying before he goes to sleep and I wonder if he is over tired?
