5 month old-awake time before bed

My DS is 5 months old. We have had a good bedtime routine for months and he has always gone to sleep at night like a dream. Self soothes by sucking his hand and asleep within 2 hours of waking from his last nap.
The past few days however have not been dreamlike. He has been wanting to roll about and not sleep. I have tried putting him down earlier-1hr 45 from last nap- and later-after 2 hours, 2hr 15. Tonight he fell asleep 3 hours after last nap! This is a big change in just a few days.
Just wondering how long your 5-6 month olds go between last nap and bedtime and what those times are?

It's usual to have the biggest awake time of the day to be between last nap and bedtime. As long as he doesn't start getting over tired (in which case he'll refuse sleep even when tired), it is fine.
