oh jetjets thank you so much. Its really thoughtful of you to post this. I think in a way its sort of what I am doing, sitting with him, rubbing his chest and soothing him til he falls asleep. Is that it or have I misunderstood? sorry for the other thread kicking off! I will look into that book though!

Sorry to crash the thread but I have a question!
jetjets - that sounds interesting! my lo wakes frequently through the night, any amount from 1 - 6 times . It is erratic to say the least with no pattern to it that I can discern. I don't think I could stomach cc either and I am currently lurking on so many sleep threads that I am going to start getting a reputation for putting myself about! . so, if I bf lo until he is almost asleep, put him in cot, leave room and he kicks off, I go in after 1 - 5 mins, calm him, repeat, repeat, repeat. What happens if he gets beside himslef (as he did when I attempted pu/pd?) Do I abandon it or persist? How long did your lo take to understand? How old was your lo when you did it? Mine is 6 months.
