SS saying he has nightmares but I don't think he is

My SS6 is an only child and his time between parents is split 50/50. He sleeps all night but when he wakes up in the morning here he's saying he's had a nightmare during the night. I don't believe him because if he woke in the night he'd wake up us, he's very clingy and very emotional. He's not been sleeping at his mums because of nightmares, she's struggling to get him into bed so he's slept with her for the past few weeks. I'm wondering if I could be right, that's he's not actually having them? Ad if so, why is he saying he is?

Poor boy. I personally don't think you should be so concerned with if he is or isnt having them and just take him at his word. How sad that he is clingy and emotional with you -yet you still doubt him.
Maybe he is insecure?
Sounds like a cry for help to me. ..
