Anyone skipped the cot?

Ds is 7m and we currently bed share. He is in with myself and DH. Been trying to get him used to his cot but he hates it, and I mean hates it. He will scream until he is sick if left for more than a few minutes.

I was thinking of just moving him straight into a bed, bunk bed, low (Ikea ones) with a double bed guard.

Has anyone done this? No space for floor mattress as have another dc that he will need to room share with

I still bed share with DD2 (7m) and won't be buying a cot.
A friend of mine put her DS straight into a bottom bunk at 1y.
