What age did you move baby to its own room?

You'd think I should know the answer to this given that I already have two kids... but it's been a while (8yr gap) and I'm now 31 weeks pregnant.

All I recall is that they were in a Moses basket for 6 weeks then weee too big.
Then moved to cot.

But I can't think roughly the age they went into their own room.

I ask because I've now realised I misjudged the size of a cot and it's going to take up all my bedroom!!

Thank you 😊

We slept in a double bed in the nursery when he was little so we moved out of his room when he was about 6 months. We moved dd into her own room at 1.

Stingray2008 · 17/01/2017 21:39

Oldest was 3 but that was because i was in a 1 bed flat with her. The others 12months

wonderstuff · 17/01/2017 21:43

Oldest was 2 and a half, but we were in a 1 bed flat until then. Can't remember with dc2, I think well over 6 months because I had him in a bedside cot and wouldn't have been getting up in the night and going to another room to feed him.

Ilovecaindingle · 17/01/2017 21:45

Moses basket for 7 months (was premature) cot in own room at 9 months. Slept through on the third night.

Up there with my personal achievements I can tell you!!

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/01/2017 21:50

In a cot from day 1 in our room. Then in his on room in his cot from 6 weeks.

Heirhelp · 17/01/2017 21:50

SIDS guidelines are that they need to be in a room with you or another person for every sleep until 6 months so they don't forget to breath. 8 month old is still on with me but mostly in my bed not in the cot. We had to move some furniture out of our room.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 17/01/2017 21:52

About 6 months I think, until he was out of his crib/carrycot and into his cot bed. (Slept in carrycot when staying overnight occasionally with DH during first few weeks as it was either that or a drawer!)

dementedpixie · 17/01/2017 21:52

Both around 8 months when they were sleeping through the night. Advised to be in same room for 6 months

dalmatianmad · 17/01/2017 21:53

About 4 weeks.....

fluffandsnuff · 17/01/2017 21:54

4 months. Moses basket then bedside crib when he got too big, then cot in own room (he snores- loudly and shuffles loads). Had an angelcare movement monitor for piece of mind

Wombletor · 17/01/2017 21:55

My DS is still in our room at 14 months, I like it but we are thinking of moving him into his own room soon, well before his next birthdayGrin

ThePants999 · 18/01/2017 09:39

Exactly the same as fluffandsnuff, except minus the snoring :-)

Timetogrowup2016 · 18/01/2017 16:44

5.5 months

Sids advice is all sleeps in the same room as you for first 6 months

user1484515168 · 18/01/2017 20:24

Hi there, we've just moved DS into his own room at 4 months as he outgrew his Snuzpod plus he woke easily from any noise we made (even pulling duvet over ourselves). So far he's had some unsettled and settled nights and is now unsettled again but seems to have a cold so we are hoping it will sort itself out soon! We moved his nearly 2 weeks ago.

Good luck

Safer Sleep recommendation is that they sleep in the same room as you for every sleep (including naps) for the first 6 months to reduce the risk of SIDS.

DD 7mo is still in her Next To Me in our bedroom because I'm still breastfeeding her at least twice every night and it's easier. But she's a big girl and is nearly too long for it so she's going to have to go in her nursery soon.

lucyloo1981 · 19/01/2017 20:22

My baby is just coming up to 4 months, he has nearly out grown his moses basket, would it be recommended he sleeps in his cot in our room?

ChoudeBruxelles · 19/01/2017 20:23

5 weeks. Ds hated being swaddled threw him arms about in Moses basket and hit the sides and woke himself up a lot. Cotbed wouldn't fit in our room.

QuilliamCakespeare · 19/01/2017 20:24

7 months.

IDontWantThisOnFacebook · 19/01/2017 20:25

Mine are 3 and 6 now. Both moved into own room, right next to ours, at six weeks (they were noisy fuckers!).

bibbitybobbityyhat · 19/01/2017 20:25

6 months! to the day Grin.

Summerdays2014 · 21/01/2017 13:29

6 months. He did sleep better in his own room too.

ClusterFuckTadpole · 21/01/2017 13:33

6 months. Almost to the day.

ElspethFlashman · 21/01/2017 13:36

7 months. Was counting the days after the magic 6 month mark, tbh.

Chocolateorangegoblin · 21/01/2017 13:41

11 months with DS1 and 8 month old is still in with us just now.

Jojobythesea · 21/01/2017 13:47

We had a cot in our room from birth as we realised as soon as 10lb DS was born an inch thin mattress was not substantial enough in the crib. He went in his own room at seven weeks as he was sleeping through. His brother went in his own room at five weeks as he was such a noisy sleeper he kept me and my DH awake when he was asleep. All our bedrooms are close though so could hear if we needed to. Smile
