Room sharing and sleep training

My DC have always been terrible sleepers. Once youngest was a bit better I put them in a room together and it was pretty much ok. At the moment youngest is crying in the night sometimes and when I put her to bed. I know if I left her for ten or so mins for a few nights it would be sorted but I feel so worried that older DC will be disturbed (and exhausted for school) so I've been going in and sleeping in the extra bed in there sometimes or sitting at their door in the evenings, which I know has been a dreadful mistake. But I'm not really sure what to do. What do other people do about sleep training and room sharing? Is there something I'm not thinking of!

Could older sleep in your room for a few days? Special treat? X

We were just talking about doing that. But then is that a rod with older and he'll want to do that again and again? We do still have a third box room so maybe I should set up a bed in there for him for a while?
