Moving DS into own room

I need to do this soon, he's 16 months old and I'm 31 wks pregnant, so want him.in his own room by the time new baby is here. The room.is a bloody tip though thanks DH so needs clearing out and cleaning up.

Any tips or advice? I was thinking having him play in there daily for a week or so. His cot will be in there and there's also a single bed so me or dh can sleep in with him.if need be. It's a big room.

We just did it with no significant preparation.

Waited until dd was sleeping through and then set my expectations that settling her to sleep (in the cot) might take a backwards step while she gets used to her new room.

Clearly I'm overthinking it! I expect bedtimes to take a bit of a step back. I don't think.i can wait til hes reliably sleeping though sadly, though it is happening occasionally!

I spent a bit time in the room with baby showing him things and playing just getting him used to the surroundings really. Changing his nappy in there if I was in during the day that kinda thing so it's not so strange when they wake up.
