My 4 month old seems to sleep so much. PFB so I worry about every thing but just need some advice on what's normal.

He will fall to sleep around 7pm after a bottle and will usually wake between 11 and 12 have a bottle and settle back to sleep again where he can sometimes sleep untill 10.30! He'll be up for 1.5 to 2 hrs and then nap for around 40 mins br up for another 2 hrs and have another 40 min to 1hr sleep usually till around 4pm then be up u till after his bath and bottle ready for sleep at 7 again. He's sleeping about 18 hours a day sometimes more. Is this ok for a 4 month old or could something be wrong?
My HV is coming tomorrow si will ask her but would lI've advice from other parents

Sounds well within the range of normal for 4 months.

It'll all change soon enough I'm sure so just enjoy whilst it lasts.

Doje · 27/11/2016 18:21

Sounds normal to me. DS1 slept loads. Enjoy and encourage it!

RedLemonade · 27/11/2016 18:34

Sounds lovely and on the heavenly side of normal!

RedLemonade · 27/11/2016 18:36

Actually he's doing a decent run of awake time at 2 hours for his age (for context my DD manages max 1 hour awake) so it sounds like he's perhaps just achieved sleep consolidation earlier than most!

Timetogrowup2016 · 27/11/2016 18:39

18 hours is brill for his age,
Enjoy it !

Sounds very normal. My DS is the same age and we have lovely lie ins until 10.30am - all my friends with 2 children are jealous. Make the most of it!

Great! It's a stressful business being a parent. We all feel it!Flowers

DS2 who is 6 months loves his sleep. He slept easily 20-22hrs a day the first 3 months. He still loves his sleep and has only ever been up once at 6am due to a poo nappy and he fully woke up while changing him. I'm enjoying it.
Enjoy the sleep cuddles

GashleyCrumbTiny · 01/12/2016 13:21

My three month old sleeps about 18-20 hours out of every 24. Worried me too! But sounds like it's within the normal spectrum

MerylPeril · 01/12/2016 13:27

Everyone always talks about babies not sleeping that people don't realise there is another end of the spectrum!!

It might not last though - that's the only thing...

29redshoes · 01/12/2016 13:36

My DD has always liked her sleep too! Enjoy it while it lasts. She still sleeps fairly late for her age (often until about 8.30, she's 7 months) and my only worry is that she's due to be starting nursery soon and we'll need to wake her up early to get there Sad

Wanna swap? Xmas Sad
