DS has recently started to roll over onto his front in bed (we were co-sleeping) and crawling around, so I moved him to his cot. That was going fine, but now when he rolls over on his side to fall asleep, he keeps going onto his belly then realises he is on his front, so crawls around his cot. I let him have a crawl round, and a bounce around and when he cried abit, I put him back on his back, but he did the same again! He was standing up, crawling around, boucing... so as he was happy I left him to it really, and then he was putting his head down and trying to go to sleep, sort of on his front. I let him relax like this, then moved him onto his back, but he did the same again. So I left him again, and he is now sleeping on his side, but slightly rolled onto his tummy, head on his blankets and feet at the head of the cot. He looks comfortable, so I don't know what to do. I saw him roll onto his back, and onto his other side so he is not sort of stuck there... but I am worried about him being a) on his tummy abit and b) is it ok for them to sleep anywhere in the cot? Obviously he doesn't know where the head of the cot is, and he always kicks off his blankets anyway, but he looks sort of dumped there Should I keep moving him?

Thanks xXx

is it ok to just let him play around in his cot aswell? I didn't know whether I should have taken him out of he wanted to play abit... although he did fall asleep within half an hour.

Apparently once the baby is old enough to roll over onto its tummy then its old enough to sleep on its tummy.

Certainly I let DS sleep however he wanted after he was about 8 months? I'd put him down on his back but he would roll about, pull covers over face, etc. (I would pull the covers off his face once he was asleep., but im not really sure you even need to?!) If he's comfy he's probably fine. Plus by 10 months most of the risks are gone so i guess its okay?

And as for letting him play about in his cot, if he is happy then i'd say its alright.

If he can roll back on to his back as easily as he can roll on to his front then dont worry.

My two, right from a few weeks old would end up at right angles in their cots through generally shuffling. They've never stayed still.

Dont worry - as long as he isnt too hot, or too cold
