Second hand crib question

chiggins · 30/10/2016 13:07

It's only just occurred to me.... I bought a second hand Chicco next 2 me crib but should I be buying a new mattress for it? Kind of defeats the point of buying a second hand one but I didn't think about it at the time.
I've seen some Chicco mattress toppers for it which I was going to buy but is that ok or should I but a new mattress??

Always buy a new mattress

Definitely get a new mattress.

SIDS advice is to provide a new mattress for every child to ensure it's firm etc. So definitely recommend a new mattress

Sorry to prevent SIDS obviously ^^

Also make sure you have been given the instructions or find the manufacturer's instructions online. There was a very dad case a couple of years ago when a baby died and the parents had a second hand crib without instructions and they were using it incorrectly. It was the bednest crib.

New mattress. And it doesn't defeat the point at all. New Next2Mes are about £150 but you can get a new mattress for less than £30. I got ours from the imaginatively named "baby mattresses online" site.

MrsGsnow18 · 30/10/2016 13:31

Definitely need a new mattress.

plimsolls · 30/10/2016 13:32

Unless you bought a second hand Next2Me for £120 I suppose.

Buy a new mattress every single time. I used the same cot for DC 1&2 but had a new mattress for each.
