Hi everyone just looking for some advice my son is 6 and goes to bed at 8pm but sometimes doesn't sleep until 10:30! He is active during the day, eats balanced meals rarely gets sweets or anything. Our bedtime routine is shower, teeth pajamas, story and 5 minute cuddle. I've no idea how to tackle this. And he will just lie in the bed it's not like he is getting up or asking for things. Any advice Confused

Is it causing a problem? It doesn't sound as if he's tired during the day, or distressed about it?

Is he having long enough to wind down from the day? Is it worth stretching the bedtime routine? Is there something quiet he could do in his room e.g. read a book/magazine in bed (he might be too young for this)? This might mean he goes to bed later but if he is asleep earlier it is still better.

My 7 year old was like this, we've started using meditations on YouTube to help him relax and fall asleep. It has really helped.

My eldest was like this a night owl and would still be awake at 11 some nights . Im not sure if you can actually make them sleep earlier tbh . If he is not upset i would just leave him to settle to sleep when he is ready

Thanks for your replies, we tried the meditation but it didn't work unfortunately. I think you might be right the only issue is waking up in the morning, but once he is up he is bright as a button and doesn't seem to be struggling in school thankfully. He must just be a child who doesn't need much sleep, I'm usually fast asleep before he isBlush
