Anyone else's 2.5yr old night wake erratically?

My DS can sleep through one night then wake up twice the next, maybe once the following night and even occasionally throws in three night wakes! No rhyme or reason. Self settles at bedtime an literally takes 30 seconds to settle him back down on a night wake. Anyone else have this?

If he is so easily settled then i wouldn't even go in to him for the night wakings.

Yep - sounds like dd. She can self settle but needs a cuddle/quick rock before she will do so, so can't ignore her waking as previously suggested. White noise has helped but doesn't eliminate waking entirely.

I don't think he would let up if I don't go to him - it's not worth the hassle of him getting stressed out and upset then trying to settle him when he is so quickly settled initially. Just wondered if anyone else had the same experience!

I don't even cuddle mine - I literally tuck him in then go back to bed! I expect it's just a reassurance thing, which they will grow out of.... Hmm

Yes me! DD used to sleep all night unless she was ill or we'd been away or something, but now she'll wake once or twice a night probably 4/7 usually it seems to be a nightmare - she'd lost something was popular for a while.

Stopped leaping up to see to her, last night she cried out 3 times in quick succession but I left it and she fell back asleep.

He didn't make a peep last night thankfully, whereas the night before he was up three times! (That isn't usual for him though really).

Yes! Same here, plus early wakings!

Purplebluebird · 05/10/2016 07:25

Same here, though mine has to bf back to sleep. Doesn't normally take more than a few minutes thankfully!

Our 3 year old sometimes wakes and whinges a little but will settle very quickly if I open the door and just go shhshh, I think he just needs to know we are there while he is in his half asleep state, we also think he has started sleep walking a little and having night terrors sometimes which is pretty strange. One minute all is quiet and the next he is shouting, you go in and hr is stood on the other side of the room, he normally settles himself within 20 mins though, doesn't help if you try to cuddle him or anything when that happens.

Yes, exactly the same here!
