When a holiday is anything but thanks to your non sleeping child...

So the first rule of baby sleep club is...you do not boast about it when you think they are finally learning to sleep well.

We are on 'holiday' (anyone with a sleep thief will know all too well the irony of that term) and I'm wide awake. Last night DD woke and cried what felt like every 10 minutes. Tonight, my parents insisted on taking her despite my trepidations. She's just cried pretty much constantly. DH fast asleep but there's no way I can be.

Tried to take her back from my parents but they've shooed me away and told me to get some sleep. Ha ha ha ha good one!! I'm so anxious I feel like I'm about to explode and I've never felt more AWAKE. So am downstairs, writing this and looking forward to this fucking holiday being over so I can get some sleep!!

Anyone else get where I'm coming from? Think I'm going to refuse to go on any more holidays until DD has turned 10...GrinAngry

I've just come from holiday feeling like I need a bloody holiday! Non-sleeping nearly-9mo DS either too excited or too stimulated or too rested or too Christ knows what. It's bad enough at home but there's something even more painful about it when you feel like you should be resting or enjoying yourself! Sigh.
BrewCake feel your pain!

Parenting in a less convenient location. I feel your pain!
Hope it gets easier soon.

Holidays are hard with babies and toddlers. We had one horrendous one with a 2yo and baby and didn't bother again until they were 3 and 5!

In a few years time holidays will become holidays again Flowers

In a few years time holidays will become holidays again.

In my opinion you get a good few years and then your children become teenagers and are absolutely horrified at the idea of being seen in public with their parents. Grin.
