8 months old suddenly waking in night

My 8 month old has been sleeping through like a dream from 7 til 7, and has suddenly started to wake at around 12mn for 3-4 hours of grumpiness, not crying but letting us know she is awake, settling herself for 10 mins or so and then waking again. the last couple of nights I have had to resort to feeding her, not done that for months! Any ideas? She isn't cold, doesn't appear to be teething either. Could she be hungry? Is on 3 good meals a day and 3 7oz bottles.

er hate to say this our LO started doing this a few months back after being a 7-7 sleeper and we cannot for the life of us figure it out. And so have some of my friend's babies of a similar age. Sometimes it's 40 min, sometimes it's nearly 3 hours, sometimes he'll self-settle, sometimes he needs a hand. The only advice I have is turn the monitor down (or off if you'll hear them anyway) and leave them to it unless they obviously need help/bonjela/whatever! I think teething probably does play a part even if there's nothing to show for it. We used to resort to feeding but it became such a habit and messed up daytime feeds that I knocked that on the head. I really hope it's just a "phase" for both of us and is over quickly!

Don't know whether to say thanks for that or not!! Good to hear that she isn't doing anything unusual though! She was better last night and we decided to try and let her get on with it too. Woke quite a bit but self settled each time after a couple of minutes. Pity she has to wake us up though! All the best with yours!

My DS did this for a while, however has since stopped. Aparently its to do with them growing and learning to fall back to sleep.

I read somewhere that they take in so much during the day that when they wake they really disrupt their sleep.

I would say dont feed, make sure DC is getting enough food & milk each day (should be about 18-20oz a day) and when they cry, leave them for a short period (5 mins) go in pat on back, say shh shh and leave... and repeat - this what we did and it worked.

hi, my 8mo lo did exactly the same, was a 7-7 from 10 wks (hooray we thought, aren't we great parents?!)
then he got a cold before Christmas and it all went to pot...
i'm breastfeeding so of course i fed him, and he was off his food then anyway.
somehow, 2 months later i am STILL feeding him at night
so this week i decided enough is enough. cc here we come!
35mins cry
15mins cry
15mins AND 45mins, aarrgghh

who knows tonight....
think his cold coincided with the phase and me feeding him was a HUGE mistake! ah well, live and learn. hopefully those lovely long sleep-filled nights will return for all of us!
