12 month old naps

I've noticed that a lot of other 12 month old seem to have a short am nap and longer pm nap. My ds is the other way around. Is this a problem?! Will it make life harder when he drops a nap?

He currently wakes at 7ish then has a nap approx 2 hours later. I wake him after 90 mins as he'd sleep for longer. Then in the afternoon he will usually have an hour or another 90 mins. Anyone else have this?

My youngest preferred her morning nap.

I used to restrict the length of the AM nap in order to maintain the timing of her PM nap. I did this by keeping her awake longer, until eventually they merged. For example

9.00-11.00 and 1.00-3.00
9.30- (woken at)11.00 and 1.00-3.00
10.00- (woken at)11.00 and 1.00-3.00
10.30- (woken at)11.30 and 2.00-4.00 and later bedtime
11am early lunch and then 11.30-3.00 nap

My dd made the change from 2 naps to 1 nap at 20 months old. She's almost 2 now, 4 months on. She now naps 12-3pm.

My DD also had a longer AM nap (about 90-120mins), her PM nap was usually about 30-60mins.

She's on one nap a day now though, the transition was pretty hellish for a couple of weeks but i don't think that having a longer pm nap would ha e made a difference TBH.
