Advice on daytime naps

My DS is 11mth old and is on the GF routine, however we don't stick to everything due to outings etc but do are best most of the time. DS has his naps between 9-10 and again at 12.30. I find that he won't sleep any longer than 1-1 1/2hr at lunch this making him tired at about 3.30ish and he won't sleep again until bed making him V tired. I have tried cutting out his 1st nap but he is shattered by 11.30am with him waking at 7 and he still only sleeps for 1- 1 1/2hrs. I tried yesterday letting him sleep as long as he wanted for his 1st nap and he slept from 9.30-11.30. He had only been awake for 2hrs aswell. He had another sleep at 3.30pm in his pram only for about 1/2hr. Any suggestions on what I could change or do?

You could try letting him sleep until 8 (if he will) and cutting out his morning nap, then putting him down at 12.30 for his lunchtime sleep.

My Ds also has a sleep pattern similar to your Ds but he is only 4 1/2 mth old. I dont know anything about this GF routine but imo a baby will sleep as and when they need to.

Enid, DS won't sleep any longer than 7.30am.
Bloss, presume you mean just letting DS nap for 15mins I think I will try that tomorrow and see how he goes. Thx.

My 4 month old daughter won't sleep for anything longer than 45 mins at lunch time. She never has. She also has a nap of about 45 mins in the morning (both naps in cot. She won't sleep properly in buggy). It's always 45 mins, exactly. She's going down within 1/2 of feeding, feeding well but wakes still tired and grumpy causing her to nod off and have a poor breast feed at about 2pm. She's on solids 2 times a day as she is a really hungry baby but is still waking more than once (frequently about every 1 1/2hrs from 1am - she also has formula at 10:30pm). GF doesn't help. Any suggestions???

Tiredalltime...

I have posted a response on your thread - not sure how much help it will be!!

HI!!

Kanesmum, my DD is 9 months old, I'm not a GF mum (tried once and failed), she has her naps at about 9 am and about 4.30 pm, and they last approx 45 min. I did try GF once, that didn't work for us. I think all babies are different, mine won't sleep more than an hour, my nephew could sleep for 3 hours at a time. No good advice here, just I think that you should choose what suits your baby.

Sorry it was supposed to be 2.30 pm, not 4.30pm
