Cosleeping and baby sleeping bags

Does anyone use a baby sleeping bag for their DC when co sleeping?

My DS is 5 month old. I would be concerned about him overheating, although at the minute I am concerned about him being cold enough in the night to lose weight (he is underweight). At the minute I have him in a long sleeved vest with his own cellular blanket over the top. Sometimes he kicks this off him and when he wakes to feed his body feels quite cool. Does anyone have any advice?

With DS I had him in a sleeping bag, lying next to me, and our room was about 18 degrees.

DD sleeps on me, and our room is 21 degrees, and at the moment she's sleeping in a long-sleeved vest and loose pj bottoms, with no sleeping bag and no blanket on top of her.

You can get very light sleeping bags (muslin) at 0.5 tog. I bought one planning it as leg containment and avoiding nappy interference for high summer but seem to use it most of the time as DD is a warm creature! I can't see how an appropriately dressed child would get too warm in it!

Ds sleeps in a 2.5 tog bag and a long sleeved vest next to me. He's fine.

Thank you very much everyone, I will pop him in the sleeping bag tonight Smile

Ds sleeps with us in his bag and is also quite a skinny /cold baby. The few hot days we've had we just had him in pjs.
I've sewed him a light jersey bag for spring and a double gauze one for summer heat. The padded type ones we use in winter/cold weather.
