our 6 month old son always goes down well each night at approx 6.45pm but then wakes around 12.30am sometimes still with his dummy intact and eyes closed but whining & partially crying, a quick reassurance & tight tuck in with his covers can work sometimes,he will then wake again at various periods until we give in & have him in with us, he is well fed & milked,we are trying to avoid waking our 18 month old, should we try controlled crying?she never needed it,any other suggestions on why he may be waking or anything else we can try except cc?

Are you sure he is not hungry? 5 hours is a long time to go when you're 6 months old.

Or too cold?

I would suggest out of habit during a light sleep cycle???? Could you offer watered down milk or similar to put lo off???
