Ds slept in his cot for OVER AN HOUR!!!!

Those of you with 'bad' napper will understand my joy. He's nearly 9months old. Until a few weeks ago all naps at home were on me. I bf and hebnodsoff, I started putting him down on his front in his cot a few weeks ago and he was managing 20-30 minutes. Today I crept in thinking I would try to resettle him when he stirred. He didn't stir!! Slept for 70 minutes!!!!

Shame I go back to work Wednesday.

I understand completely, I am happy when DD manages 30 minutes in her cot!

You've just given me hope that my bad napper (7.5 months, and who considers naps only acceptable if they involve boob, pushchair or sling) might "get it" soon! He wakes 9 times out of 10 when I put him down after feeding to sleep...

acat have you tried him.on his front? My son turned onto his front several times himself (in the space of an hour) woke up each time, then slept for 3 hrs. (bedtime) I panicked about it for days, then realised he seemed happier that way, and started putting him down on his front at bedtime.

And now do it at naptime too. Even if he wakes when I put him down, I can put a hand on his back, pat his bum and he goes back!!

yay. Mine is now napping longer and has just hit nine months. did an hour this morning and he is napping now. .an hour and 20 so far. Read few your sleep posts Nottalotta so I know this is a big deal. It does finally happen, it is just so difficult to believe it(so hang on in there Sleppybunny). x

Wow well done poo are you pacing around wondering what to do with yourself? Ds is being fairly consistent in letting me put him down. The length of time is variable but it's still a huge improvement!

Do you know, Nottalotta, I think mine has finally got the memo this week too! We've been housebound due to lurgy and I decided to try for a cot transfer for every nap - bar Wednesday (a new low of 6 hours awake time), it worked every time, naps from one to two hours!

Shame I only have another month at home, this could transform my days....the first day, I spent most of said nap pacing and staring at the monitor!

We are getting cot naps of over an hour, often 1hr 30-40 most mornings now!! Except today, when a variety if things messed it up for us. Afternoons are usually shorter, maybe 30 minutes and sometimes not successful with the transfer, but all in all great progress. Shame I am back at work!

We are right there with you - all cot naps used to be 30 minutes exactly, but on the day DD turned 9 months she started taking longer naps! Turned out she wanted to sleep on her side on her tummy but she hadn't worked this out yet - she's been slow to pick up rolling. Fingers crossed it continues!x

Well done you both! Totally understand. Mine was a terrible napper. None of my mum friends got it, but God she was perisistant in her nap refusal. It's so tiring when you can't put them down for a minute.

We just mastered cot naps here too about a week ago... (Nearly 11months) They were in the pushchair before so at least I had my arms and hands free but still - this is a big step!

Our pushchair naps are much improved, he used to wait up immediately if you stopped pushing. Now he will often stay asleep. It's great to have a bit more of a predictable routine.

Imagine having a baby that cot napped from an early age!!

13 months hereAngry and still won't nap unless attached to a breast

Night times are better, can get her down about 8 and she'll sleep about 4 hours
