8 week DS cosleeping and bf to sleep - can't sleep without me there

atm Im cosleeping and feeding to sleep with my ds, when he falls asleep and I try to leave him asleep he wakes up within minutes.... is this normal?

It's not unusual. However it doesn't have to be that way.

A swaddle blanket replicates that tight, secure feeling and makes it easier to put down and extract yourself without disturbing baby. A dummy can also help baby stay asleep while you escape too.

Yes, ds was the same. If you want to sit up, can you just feed him to sleep on your lap?

Ds hated being swaddled and hated dummies. If I fed him to sleep on the bed I could switch with dp afterwards and he usually stayed asleep, so I could get up for a shower or whatever.

Ds is now 4 months and has pretty much grown out of this - I still feed him to sleep but I can usually get up and leave him now.

Yes that can be normal.

Normal. We're all having an afternoon nap just now using the cosleeping to sleep excuse DS is 15 months btw. At about 6 months I started being able to reliably feed him to sleep lying down then wriggle out and away while he still slept. Of course I couldn't go very far at all because he was asleep on the bed and capable of rolling off!!

I put an very similar post as my baby has been bed sharing since the start.. guess what. Last night my 9 week old slept in his snuzpod next to the bed for 12.5 hrs, only waking up for one feed (I'm breastfeeding).
I just decided at 9pm to set up the monitor, turn all the lights off on the bedroom. Put him on his grobag (detests swaddling), feed him to sleep then put him down. He lasted 5 min. As soon as I heard him whining I went up and picked him up and put him back down once he was calm. I then stroked his nose and after a few mins he dosed off till 5am! Then I fed him, put him down again and he woke at 10am.
I'm shocked but fully aware this may be a fluke as he's spent the last 8 weeks lying with his head on my shoulder!
I guess all we can do is keep trying

Yes it's normal. From the point of view that we are mammals then our babies want us close by and available for them to feed at all times. But, as we are have other responsibilities these days if it's not working there're things you can do to change it.

I chose not to and co slept with my daughter until she was nearly three and her brother came along as it was easiest. We encouraged her into her own bed and to be fair she was already in there a lot of the time by then anyway.

Her brother is different and has happily slept in his cot/bedside crib etc since day dot although we co slept sometimes at night for the convenience of night feeds.

It's all normal. If you can't embrace it there's o harm in trying different things though
