22mnth old DD not sleeping

Help Our DD is 22 mnths and has started waking up during the night calling for mummy. I have tried all sorts to help her back to sleep including leaving her to cry it out, lamps on, cuddles, putting her in our bed(oh oh) and last night spent it asleep on the floor just so we could all get asleep. What would the experts say! It seems like she is having anxieties if I sit beside the cot she will go back to sleep but wakes as soon as I leave the room. She has even resulted in banging her head on the wall and climbing out of the cot, going to bed in the first place is fine, just starts when she wakes up and then it can take a couple of hours to get her to sleep again. Any ideas?????

I'm afraid that I think you may have to do what I am going to have to do
DD2 goes to sleep with me sitting next to her bed (she;s 20 months) and then wakes in the night crying for me. It makes sense that since she went to sleep with me near her that when she wakes (as everyone does naturally in the night) then she wants me there again. I have been taking her into bed with me just so we can all sleep. I know that I am going tohaver to just do the rapid return until she eventually falls asleep without me next to her. will be hell, take hours in the middle of the night but she will eventually learn to cope with falling asleep without me near her and then when she wakes in the night should just settle herself. I haven't felt like I have the strength to do it yet, but no I will have to soon as db3 is due in feb and I can't be up all night with both of them I will die
good luck

My heart goes out to you especially with db on the way, Im back to work after xmas break so am slightly Zombied too. Ever feel like the experts must all be old biddies with no kids cos all the tactics that Ive tried dont work and Ive been working in childcare for the past 15 years!!

Hi Mousebear. Sounds like you're going through a very similar thing to me, and my dd is 26 months (just started another thread about star charts) I'm thinking if she wakes tonight (or should I say when) I'm going to have to sleep on her bedroom floor as dh has got a stomach bug, so don't want her coming into our bed and risk getting that again. She was sick all night last Thurs!
