Moses basket

Hi all

How long do babies usually stay in a Moses basket for and is it best to go from a Moses to a crib then to a cot or straight to the cot? Our baby is 6 weeks old and want to get prepared in case we need a crib

Any help appreciated

Thank-youSmile

I kept dc1 in the Moses basket until his head and feet literally touched the ends! (Don't do that, btw, it's probably frowned upon).

However, once we got round to putting the cot up it turned out dc1 didn't like his new found freedom and all the space, and it took a while for him to settle.

This time around I am going to do - Moses basket for a few weeks, then basket in the cot for a week, (so baby gets used to the new place) then move baby into cot at about 2/3 months or something.

My friend put her 2nd dc straight into the cot, didn't bother with basket or crib at all.

Basically, as with all stages of babies, you just do whatever you want Smile

My dd moved from her Moses basket to crib at 15 weeks. She's quite tall so she got too big for the basket.
She will sleep in the crib in our room until she's at least 6 months and then she'll go in her cot in her own room then.

5 months but 25th percentile girl. Should have gone for 4 months but she was sleeping ok so didn't want to mess! One night she seemed to wake herself hitting the walls so sorted cot next night!

We moved baby from basket to cot at about 8 or 9 weeks. She kept trying to move sideways so end up across the basket but not very comfy as no room.

Cot = MUCH more room to move Grin

DD was in the Moses for about 8 weeks, then into the big cotbed. She likes having her arms spread out so slept much better in the cot.

Dd is 6 months and still in hers. She will move to a cot next week but only because she is almost able to pull herself up to sitting and she won't be safe in the basket soon. Otherwise she would still fit fine.
