45 minute naps at 7 months

Tried extending naps it just doesnt work with my DD. Will these naps naturally extend over time or will i always have a little cat napper?

Six snd s half month old here and much the same - had limited success with trying to resettle her in cot when she wakes at that mark but only the pram or car are guarantees of a long nap!

My ds is just six months and he is just starting to extend his naps. I have more luck in the morning than in the afternoon and he can sleep for hours if he nods off in the buggy (even when stationery). If in the cot, I often go back in at around 30 mins (his danger time) and try to catch him before he fully stirs. He is slowly needing less of this. Although not today

Yeah my DS was like that at that age, then a few months later he was having 1.5 hour naps morning and afternoon. Just happened naturally.

He's 19 months now and has one nap anywhere between 1.5 and 3 hours.

I think it depends on the child. My DS slept 30 minutes morning and afternoon at 6 months (you could set a stopwatch by him) and it didn't get better. He stopped napping at not longer after 1. At 7, he rarely sleeps more than 9 hours a night, never tired and full of energy.

Don't feel bad about that, it took me ages to get DS to nap in his cot. I would feed him to sleep then try and transfer him and he'd wake up instantly. It was just through perseverance that I managed it eventually, at about 7 months I think.
Even now he still has to be fast asleep before I put him in his cot at nap time or he won't settle (but randomly can go down wide awake at bed time )

My DD napped for 45mins on the button until she was around 10months, usually 3 naps. I tried really hard to extend naps until she was 7/8 months, and gave up at that stage. Then with no encouragement she suddenly dropped to one nap of 1.5-2hours. She's 22months and still has a long afternoon nap, sleeps 10-11hours at night. She has never napped in her cot, l never encouraged it as I like to be free to get out and about so she has generally napped in her buggy, in bright noisy places no problem at all. At nursery she sleeps on a bed on the floor. I am probably lucky though, in that she doesn't care where she sleeps.

DS1 did 45 minutes on the dot until he was about 8 months. Now at 18 months he sleeps for 2.5 hrs every day after lunch. It gets better, honestly!!

DS is 7 months and at least half his naps are still 45mins. Sometimes he extends them.
Dd didn't consistently extend hers until 9mo
