Cotbed Vs My Bed

Hi,

Over the past couple of months my now 20mth DD refuses to sleep in her cotbed for day time naps. Even if I'm sitting on the floor in her room with her she still stands and cries. However if I put her in my bed and leave the room she will fall asleep by herself no problem.

Then at night time she asks to go to her room and cannot wait to jump in to her cotbed. Although she does wake up around 4.30am and wants to come in the bed.

Does anyone know why the different reactions between day and night?

Also I was thinking maybe she prefers a bed and wondering if it's too early to convert her cotbed in to a bed now?

Thanks x

Who cares! She won't be napping forever..... I would switch her to a bed tbh.

Agree with above, who cares!? Just do whatever works!

Has she got blackout curtains in her room?

I dont think shes too young to go in a bed, but Ive been co-sleeping for 2 years, DD just goes straight into mine at 7pm.

Yes she's got blackout curtains. I know it must sound silly, but as shes waking in the night im conscious about how and where she's sleeping in the day. I work full time and to say I'm exhausted is an under statement.

Perhaps i may try converting her cot in to a bed and see if that helps

I don't think it matters to much really. Mine woke up at night at that age because of teething (molars were a bitch) and reflux issues - where they napped in the day made little difference.

But by bedtime she's likely to be much more tired and have less of a fight if you're catching her at the right time.

Does she only wake at 430am? Mine have been because it is cold! So I try and counter by timing the heating to come on earlier to keep them warm. I remember reading that they move into a lighter sleep around about then.
