8 month old up for 3.5hrs every night - exhausted desperate Mama! HELP

My 8 month old goes to bed at 8.30 and wakes at 7.30 every day but she is waking in the middle of the night routinely at 2 am and shes up for 3 and a half hours!!

We have a good bedtime routine, bath, bottle in her dark room with music, bed. She has two naps during the day one at 10.30am and one at 3pm both for 1hr 30mins.

I think she is waking because she is hungry (hungry cry) and she takes her bottle but then doesn't go back to bed - she is wide awake and wants to play. During the night I dont take her out of her bedroom, I keep the room dark, play relaxing music.

I think she can self soothe because i put her in her cot awake when she is ready for a nap/sleep and she goes off on her own. She sleeps with a dummy. I think part of the problem is that shes not tired in the middle of the night.

She is on 3 meals a day and has 3 bottles a day.

I am really really struggling. I had post natal depression when she was born and I am still taking the anti depressants as well as having CBT once a week. All my family live 300 miles away so its just me and my Hubby - he is amazing and does his fair share of night shifts... but Im struggling to look after myself due to the tiredness, and Im completely disinterested in going out and doing anything because I am so so brain dead.

Ive had a cry this morning... Im so desperate. I look round at other Mamas in ASDA and they have their hair and make up done and their babe sits their content and happy, and I look like a shadow of my former self as I try to comfort my moaning minnie.

You are doing all of the right things. I write on lots of different threads on the sleep board and can almost always find something to suggest but in your case - you are already doing everything right. Flowers

My only suggestion, which probably just something you didn't mention rather than something you are not doing, is that when she wakes in the night get to get really quickly with the bottle. Sounds like you are right that she's hungry (not uncommon for nightfeeds to come back briefly during early weaning) but getting to get quickly might help her feel less 'awake'.

For the same of your own mental health, it would be worth napping yourself during her daytime naps.

My only suggestion for her night waking would be pain - maybe teething? Would some calpol and teething gel after her night feed help?

Google eight month sleep regression. You're doing nothing wrong- they're just wired from all the developmental stuff. It will pass (hopefully sooner rather than later).

No help but you aren't alone. I have an 8 month old dd and am on a total of 6 hours sleep the last 2 nights. And I work full time. It's hideous. Hope you feel better soon.
