Sleeping bag escapee.

21 month old dd has started letting herself out of her sleeping bag so I'm wondering if it's just time to switch to a duvet. She does wriggle around but seems to drag the bag with her a lot. When did you child start using them? And what about pillows? Slightly clueless here. She's in a cot bed at the moment.

We got a pillow and duvet set when DS was around 18 months. He was a lot happier with his cot after that.

I've used sleeping bags until they grew out of the biggest sized - so Aged 3 (18-36m size).

Have you got poppers over the shoulder type sleeping bags? If so, you've done well to have got to 21 months without baby being able to escape. Mine have been about 12-18 months when they figure that if they stand on the excess material near their feet and stretch arms upwards, that the poppers come open.

Instead you want a sleeping bag which goes on like a sleeveless zip-up cardigan, with no poppers.

Pillows you can safely use after 12 months. However babies often don't sleep on a pillow even when provided and there is a case that it is better for the spine not to use a pillow. You can provide one now if you wanted to though.

She actually unzips it and then pulls her arms out.

The gro company do a duvet thing that zips to stop them throwing it off

Agree with FATEdestiny the ones with shoulder poppers are a dead loss if you have a would be Houdini!

Because at this age you can if you want to. It often creates more problems because of temperature regulation and making climbing out of the cot easier, but if you want to change then just do it.

There are sleeping bags that zip from the top and zip from the bottom. If she's learnt one, swap to the other. You could use safety nappy pins to secure a zip. There are ways to continue using a sleeping bag if you want to do that.

The sleeping bag was really good while she stayed in them. It was nice knowing that she was kept warm but now she can escape I think I'll just try a duvet. She kinda ends up using it as one anyway but the duvets are cheaper than a 2.5 tog for her age.
