Help!!! 6month DS won't go down in cot awake!

Help!!!! My 6.5month old DS has never gone down to sleep in his cot awake. At bedtime he falls asleep on his bottle and I carry him up to bed. If we try and put him down in his cot awake (either daytime or night) he cries and wriggles around so much that he ends up jammed up across the cot the wrong way round (ie short side) and we end up having to go in to move him. This only wakes him up more. We end up pushing him to sleep in the carseat part of our travel system. This was fine when he was a tiny baby (and worked a treat) but now he is almost too big for the seat and I'm dreading what we do next. We have tried the controlled crying technique but he still ends up jammed the wrong way round in the cot and more awake than ever. Some nights he sleeps right through (maybe once a week) the other nights I end up feeding him and then rocking him back to seat in the travel system. Any advice would be most gratefully received! Thanks!

DS suddenly started to go to sleep awake at 7 months ish. It just happened. I play music every night, and the nights he finishes his feed but isnt asleep, I think he listens to the music to soothe him...

I asked for advice on here about that and someone said to use a sleeping bag and tuck it in under the matress at the foot end and it worked! She cried at first but I started cc earlier so it wasn't that bad, took a week. A lot of people are against cc but you can't do right for doing wrong when youre a parent so whatever works!!

Hi LauraGas

I have a Fisher price Aquarium that plays music and does a little light show with the fish and when DD gets upset when I turn it on she would stop crying and watch the fish it would calm her down, maybe it might calm your son and make the cot not seem so bad and fall asleep ...
There are different ones on the market you could have a look at.

Have you tried giving him time during the day in his cot, playing with some favourite toys? Might help him to feel it's a nice, happy place to be.
