Ikea do a good iron (looking) day bed. It has bars on 3 sides and is a full size single bed (I believe)... but you can always turn it around to face the wall if you want - to stop her falling out.... and it would be a kind of cot as the 3 sides would be on the outside and the wall would be the 4th side (am I making any sense?!! )
This is what we are thinking of getting.
Hope that helps.

Ikea also do several extendable beds - they start off cot bed size and then have two ends that eventually fold down to make it a single bed size.
