5 mo woken by poo twice per night ...was so nearly there

This time 2 weeks ago my 5mo was beginning to sleep through. She had a week of going to bed at seven and waking between 3.30 and 5.30, feeding and then back to sleep til 7. It was bliss. Just before that I had replaced the 1 am feed with formula, and I wonder if this helped. She tended to poo once every 2 to 3 days.
Last week she had diarrhea, with mucusy green watery poos at least once per hour. A few nappies even had blood in them. Doc said it was rotovirus (v odd as she had been vaccinated). Apart from the dodgy poo she seemed absolutely fine.
A week on poo is still green and mucusy sometimes v dark green. She now is back to waking at 1am and 4am due to pooing. As I have to change her she is taking ages to settle again and I am having to bf feed her. So now getting no more than 2hrs sleep at a time. Have stopped formula and any solids for time being to see if that was causing the green poo.
So ? Is this pooing her new normal (green, mucusy, sometimes explosive every 3 to 4 hrs)? Anything I can do to reduce frequency? Do I need to go back to the doc?
So frustrating. Really thought we were getting there, now it feels v unobtainable again.

Teething?

These could be symptoms of a cows milk protein allergy.... especially if you have switched to formula at 1am, she could be reacting to that (as more proteins in formula than coming thru your milk). The only way to test it would be to cut dairy out of your diet (and stop the forumla) and see if it makes a difference. Be warned tho it takes 6 weeks for it to be out of both your systems (tho you do see an improvement after 2).

We're going thru this and the mucous and blood plus green poo are all symptoms of the intolerance. I would try and speak to a different gp and your HV.

Most children outgrow this by 2/3 yrs and it's a lot to get your head round at first... we had weeks of this before pinpointing what it was. There is a Facebook group called cmpa for breastfeeding and another cmpa for weaning which is full of mums sharing tips etc for food/symptoms etc.

I hope your little one is ok and it was 'just' rota virus but sounds very like cmpa. Good luck xx

Thanks both. She is showing signs of teething, (gnawing like a mad thing, dribbling buckets). I don't think atooth is imminent.

I had wondered about cmpi. Thanks for the link. I am soooo hoping it isn't. Can it be cmpi if doesnt have The allergy symptoms ( cough wheezing, itchiness)? It does say that gastroenteritis can cause temporary issues. I will cling onto that and continue to lay off the formula. Christmas with no butter and cream doesn't bear thinking about.

Yes I think cmpi is more gastrointestinal symptoms whereas the skin symptoms denote allergy.

Awake again for poo at 2 15 only now just got her back to sleep. Have five hour train journey in the morning. Yeah! I think docs if this is still happening by the time I get back. Two dark green mucuousy poos every night can't be normal.

My ds (who currently has me up for about the 10th time tonight...yawn..) had a bout of green mucous poo for a week or so after starting weaning, I cuthink all formula and dairy from his diet (I don't drink much milk anyway) and it stopped, 2 weeks later I reintroduced dairy to him and he's been fie, although we have had one more dodgy poo today, I linked that back to Greek yoghurt yesterday. I'd you do join one of the Fb groups you'll see mention of the milk ladder, not all dairy is equal. You can get temporary issues with milk after a stomach bug, so fingers crossed it'll be temporary. My ds has formula etc now with no problems. Doesn't help his sleep though. Three wakeups a night sounds like bliss, I haven't actually been to sleep yet....
