My 2 year old (just turned 2 this month) moved into a toddler bed a couple of months ago, as he was stirring every night multiple times in his cot. The first few nights in the bed were brill as he slept through. Then he started waking up and coming into me. I tried all sorts including buying him a winter duvet in case he was getting too cool through the night but nothing worked or if it did, it would last for one or two nights. Eventually my friend suggested putting a bed guard on the bed (one side is against the wall) as maybe he was missing the enclosed sensation from the cot. This worked for a few weeks which equaled one happy mummy. However recently he has developed a cough and that started disturbing him in the middle of the night however the cough is subsiding and he is very rarely coughing in his sleep now but he is still waking up at silly o'clock and I end up bringing him in with me as he takes ages to go back to sleep (it took 1 1/2 hrs the other night) and he stirs again an hour or two later to go through the same process all over again.

Any tips on how to get him to sleep through again? Would much prefer having my bed back to myself and a full nights sleep again as I'm so tired.

Apologies for the length of the post.
