18 month sleep regression?

My dd turned 18mo last week and has started playing up at bedtime. We've had the same bedtime routine since she was 7mo so dinner, playing, milk, in the night garden, bath and then into her room for a book and into her cot. However for the past 2 weeks she has become insistent on choosing what book she has at bedtime and just keeps asking for it again. We've done the same book now for 10 days at her choice. We read it twice and then put her down and then she has a good cry for 20 mins. It's her angry cry though so know it's not pain. Up until 2 weeks ago she'd whinge for 1-2 mins and then drop off or go straight to sleep whereas it seems to be taking a lot longer now.

Does this all sound like classic regression signs? Seems like she is much more aware of bedtime now and is starting with classic delay tactics. I'm reluctant to stay with her in her room till she drops off as she can go to sleep on her own and I'm assuming this is a phase!

Was for mine. 18 months is around the time they started to demonstrate their independence a bit more and 'protest' about things. Lasted a few weeks.

I'm just sticking to the routine and not giving in at all as don't want this to become the norm!

My son started waking in the night for cuddles at 18 months ( previously unheard of!). Lasted about 10 days then went back to normal.

We're going through the same at the moment

Previously lo was super easy but now fights sleep an we have to go back in a couple of times to lay back down an redo blankets.

Think the key is carry on doing what you were previously and not creating bad habits. With our oldest I think it was back to normal within a week or two.
