Sleeping bag recommendations for slim baby

Dd is 17 weeks (13 weeks adjusted as was 4 weeks premature) and is small - on 2nd centile for her adjusted weight, but is rather long and slim. She's just under 5kg, about 58cm but her neck and head in particular are small.

She's currently in a size 3-6 month Jersey type sleeping bag from jojo maman Bebe which is a good length for her although the sleeves are way too long, but in addition to waking to feed is waking frequently for no apparent reason and I think she's cold. At least she feels on the cold side to me. I bought a cozy looking sleeping bag from gap but she's way too slim for it - her head and neck just sink down into it through the neck hole so we can't use it yet.

Any suggestions for one with a smaller neck hole would be gratefully received.

Bambino merino. The sizes are 0-2 years so just buy one and lasts until duvet age. They have poppers under arm to make smaller where needed

We have an Asda one that we've used on our 2nd centile DS since about 4 weeks. It's 1.5tog but seems cosy. We also got given a 2.5tog kiddicare one that can be used from 7lbs and seems neat at the neck. Not needed the warmth of it yet though.

I'd second Asda. DS (5 weeks prem and on small side) has been in theirs since he reached the initial weight threshold of 4kg.

The asda ones are out of stock online. I guess I can try in store but asda is quite out of the way from us

The bambino merino ones are v expensive - are you sure they will fit a small baby? They say minimum weight 10lb and the neck hole looks large....

The white company ones are lovely and I think you can use from around 9lbs. They have poppers under the arms to keep baby from slipping down.

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 13/10/2015 20:06

Yes I was going to say white company due to the poppers under the arms

Think - mine were both 7lb ish from birth and went straight into the bambino merino ones. Like I said they are long as last up to 2, but have poppers so adjust at neck as needed. They also being merino wool work in winter and summer to regulate temperature so you don't need to buy different togs or sizes so actually over 2 years work out just as cheap imo. We had 2, lasted two children 2+ years, and we sold on eBay and got 75% of cost back so they hold value well.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Tk max always have nice unusual design ones. Most are from approx 8-10lbs+ and many have extra poppers under the arms so the head and arms can't slip down

Thanks everyone. Got it half price Grin from white company and fits perfectly
