Hope someone can help - sleep deprivation is really getting to me! For her first 4 months my dd would only sleep in our bed by night and in her sling or car seat by day. Once she got to 4 months we used Baby Whisperer techniques to get her to sleep in her cot. This worked brilliantly up to a point - she is now great at falling asleep on her own. However, we still have a problem with night waking. She typically goes to bed at 7.00 pm and sleeps until I wake her for a feed at 10.00 pm. She then goes back down, but usually wakes sometime between midnight and 2.00 am and is then wakeful on and off for the rest of the night. When we were co-sleeping she used to breast feed throughout the night - once she moved into the cot I cut down the night feeds and now try to feed her only once, around 3.00 am. She is enjoying her solids and eats plenty, so I find it hard to believe that she's hungry - also, on one occasion she did sleep all the way through, totally out of the blue, so I don't think she actually needs to feed at night. When she wakes at night I try to leave her until her crying becomes genuinely distressed, in the hope that she will settle herself. If she is distressed I go in to her and try to sooth her in the cot. However nothing really seems to work. All ideas gratefully received!
