Sounds like she's having a bad dream

Hi, the last 2 nights I've woken to my 3mo making loud grunting sounds, shaking her head from side to side and slamming her limbs up and down causing a right racket. She has been fast asleep on both occasions and rightly or wrongly I've picked her up semi woken her then she's fallen into a calm deep sleep in my arms. Does anyone else have experience of this? Is it possible to be nightmares at this age? Should I be interupting her sleep like that?
Thanks!

DS grunts loudly after his feed at 1am ish. I believe its a bit of reflux discomfort. I have been picking him up and trying to comfort him but last night i left him.in his basket to see what would happen. 40 minutes later he was still at it. I can't sleep through it. I picked him up and held him upright for half an hour (then he wanted feeding again....)

Not sure if this is the same noise you are getting?

Try a swaddle and a dummy.

Grunting and arms flaying are not bad dreams, it is just baby struggling to get into a deep sleep.

You can leave baby and sometimes they'll settle. The swaddle helps calm by creating a secure, tight feeling (like being held) and the dummy helps because universally babies take comfort from sucking so it helps get into the deep sleep stage

Yea she had her dummy in that was the weird thing. She can be quite collicky and she's not been herself all day today really upset and quiet for her!
Could be reflux she has also got to the stage of putting her fists so far in her mouth its making her sick and thats in the day time so its not like I can swaddle her then I'm not sure what to do about that!
She's already in bed but will swaddle tomorrow and see how we go thanks both :) xx

Swaddling is like marmite. Some babies love it, some hate it. So no guarantees
