My DS has always been what I consider to be a really good sleeper. He consistently slept through the night from 11 weeks old (fed him at 11pm till 18 weeks). By through the night I mean he would be in bed asleep by 7pm and would wake anywhere between 6am & 7am. This was great - no more milk feeds in the night and I felt as if I could sleep.
When DS was about 14 months he started screaming for 2-3 hours a night for about 8 weeks every night - we tried everything to get him to go back to sleep and nothing worked. Eventually he just stopped of his own accord.
Now he is three he sleeps well but I can honestly say that there is rarely a night when I don't get up to him. 95% of the time this takes less than a minute - I rearrange his blankets or just give him a kiss and he is back off to sleep - he goes down around 7.30 and sleeps until about 7.
Is this normal or does everybody elses children go to sleep and stay asleep all night. I feel too awful to leave him in the middle of the night if he calls me - his dad has tried to go in to settle him but is totally useless at it - they end up having a conversation with the result that DS ends up wide awake.
This isn't really a problem - but I am just curious to know if other people's children/toddlers do the same thing?
