Won't sleep in moses

I have a nearly 4 week old son who won't sleep at night and won't sleep in his Moses basket. He will drop off easily on me of my partner but as soon as he goes into the basket he cries and won't settle. I just don't know what to do. I've tried putting a tshirt with my smell on and warming the basket but neither help at all. Any suggestions?

Yeah, loads of babies hate moses baskets and won't sleep in them.

I'd recommend buying a full sized drop-side cot and removing the drop side then butting it up to your bed. This makes the cot an extension of your bed and allows you to cuddle baby to sleep, while still in the cot.

Yes, my baby was exactly the same and I always thought I was the only one! I co-slept with him, first with him just in the crook of my arm or on me (DH decamped to spare room). For naps in sling or on me while I watched loads of TV. ThEn, when baby was about 8 weeks old, I bought a Sleepyhead and he slept in there next to me on my bed at night and that worked really well - loved the Sleepyhead. Then at 3.5 months he took to the Moses basket for naps and then soon after for nights. He stayed in it until 6.5 months when he went into a big cot.

Is it the Moses specifically or the lying on his back he doesn't like?

It seems to just be the Moses - he falls asleep easily on you or in his little chair but as soon as he goes in the Moses he cries and won't settle. I've not slept more than 2 hours at a time since he has been born. And lately it seems he wakes after an hour.

At just 4 weeks old, that is just a case of "Welcome to Motherhood". It does get (slightly) better over time.

Full sized cot with side off allows you to cuddle up to your baby while they go to sleep, then extract yourself without disturbing baby when asleep.

For daytime sleep I use a bouncy chair (minus play arch) for the first six months.

Thanks for all your advice. I will defiantly give the cot option a go.

I will look forward to the day he sleeps even 4 hours at a time.
