My ds is 6mo and blissfully sleeps 12 hrs at night not a murmur - so why the hell am I awake all night?????
I can go to sleep after a bit of tossing and turning easy enough about 10.30-11pm yer come 3am boom I'm wide awake with the little hamster in my head doing bloody somersaults with the thoughts in my mind. Sometimes come around 6am I can nod back off for another hour but lately I've not even been able to do that.
I look like I'm late 40s not early 30s, this is every single night its really starting to take its toll I'm so fed up.
GP prescribed Me 20mg citalopram for my anxiety which is helping loads during the day but at night its awful. I wish I could chop my head off whilst I go to bed and put it back on again in the morning. I've got 3 dc so not much chance of getting a nod during the day. Arrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!Angry

How long have you been on citalopram and what time do you take it? Citalopram can affect sleep in some people (Google or search on here and you will find some threads). Was your sleep affected before it or just since taking it?

I've been taking it about 4 months I tend to take it in the morning. Sleep was affected before i started taking it.

Might be worth another trip to the gp then? Just incase they can suggest something that might help? (Feel your pain with no day time naps Grin older two dcs go back to school weds, but dc3 is 10mo and his naps are the only chance I get to get anything done!!!)

Update - GP has upped my dosage to 30mg and has suggested I take it in the evening rather than morning.
In all honesty anything to shut my mind up is worth a try I'm exhausted, I'd gladly chop my head off at the moment.

I'm starting to get like this - prior to my 10 week old I slept fairly well and could nap like a pro but now I just lie there with my mind whirring. And this isn't good as I need to fit sleep around numerous night wake ups. I get this awful thing in that As I drop off to sleep I become aware of this and wake myself up...

miss I'm still waiting for the medication at night to make a difference. If I sleep til 4.30 that's a good sleep for me. I am exhausted I look at least 10yrs older than I actually am.
